Urbis are the lead consultant driving the Future South Bank Master Plan on behalf of South Bank Corporation for this vitally important waterfront precinct for the city of Brisbane and the South East Queensland region.
The Master Plan establishes both the strategic direction and in effect a reference design for future investment and renewal of the Corporations’ 42-hectare precinct. The process has involved extensive collaboration throughout with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, integrating robust technical analysis and driving a complex and multi-disciplinary range of inputs to form a tested and deliverable master plan.
The development of the master plan has involved detailed investigations, and iterative creative design options and development. The work has informed costings and delivery certainty, striking a balance between commercial, cultural and community outcomes, whilst continuing to allow the diverse mix of uses and partnerships that has underpinned South Bank’s success to date.
The Draft Master Plan was released in late 2022 for community and stakeholder feedback. The draft plan has already been heralded as a benchmark example of industry excellence, and will be refined and finalised in late 2023 based on feedback.
“The master plan sets out the long-term vision to ensure South Bank remains one of our most loved destinations. – Natalie Hoitz, Group Director Design.
