Urbis is committed to a smarter, more skilled Australia. Over the years and across all our fields of expertise – from master planning to research and policy evaluation – we’ve worked on projects that have expanded access to education and enhanced learning experiences.

Planning and design

Along with our urban designers and landscape architects, Urbis’s planners (urban, town and social) have helped redesign and renew university campuses and schools across Australia and overseas.

Economic, market and social research

Our economists, social and consumer researchers, and property experts help universities anticipate and cater for student accommodation needs.

Research and policy

Urbis’s policy and research experts work with state and federal governments and a range of stakeholder groups to evaluate programs and policies across the skills, employment, early childhood and education sectors.

We measure the success of initiatives intended to improve education delivery, training, equity, diversity and employment outcomes, and we help governments find ways to enhance policy outcomes. We also help policymakers understand what business, the community and other stakeholder groups are looking for from education and training.

Using qualitative and quantitative tools and drawing on our wide range of expertise, we’ve assessed literacy and numeracy programs, service models for school counselling, gender diversity in professional sectors, early childhood and youth unemployment strategies, and employment assistance for those with mental illnesses. We led research and consultation that informed the development of the National Career Development Strategy.

Our research, planning, design and place-making know-how are helping shape a safer, more inclusive skilled and employable society.
