Sydney's first BTR tower
We led the planning approval of this highly technical project on behalf of Investa and Oxford Properties to deliver Sydney CBD's first Build-to-Rent (BTR) tower, comprising the Sydney Metro over station development above Gadigal Station south entrance portal. This was Oxford Properties’ first foray into BTR property development in Sydney and adds to their worldwide portfolio of BTR or multifamily housing.

The outcome
Whilst the project is in the CBD, sensitive adjacent developments including heritage sites and residential apartments at two interfaces required the planning strategy to proactively and thoroughly inform the design response. The thoughtful design, guided by in depth and technical planning knowledge, informed a hard-won approval by the IPC in April 2021 despite significant objections.
Indi is now operational and one of the first of its kind to be contributing to the BTR housing supply in Sydney CBD.
This was a highly technical project, requiring expertise across all disciplines. The outcome was extraordinary for a residential project with sensitive interfaces on all sides– the first BTR in the CBD.
