An embedded mindset

Sustainability has moved beyond compliance. We are bringing a new way of thinking for our clients – a different blend of sustainable and multi-disciplined expertise to what the market currently offers. Sustainability is a rich vein running through all that we do. We are listeners, problem-solvers, creative thinkers and independent experts. We have a fresh approach and vision of what sustainability means for cities and communities. We understand the intricacies of people, property and place and this is reflected in our analysis. We illustrate this with tangible, measurable sustainability initiatives to deliver benefit for the community and the environment and to provide return on investment.

Sustainability in practice

Urbis is currently working with a community housing association which integrates technical decarbonisation, economic policy, finance and funding mechanisms. An Urbis team consisting of experts across Net Zero and Decarbonisation; Social Value Creation; Smart and Sustainable Places; Planning; Economics and Property; Social Advisory; and Heritage, are currently working on the Decarbonising Community Housing project, supporting the community housing sector in their capacity to transition to net zero and their decarbonisation pathways.

The project’s key aims include improving the client’s understanding of how they can feasibly decarbonise their portfolios within the constraints of ownership arrangements and limited budgets, assess the finance and funding mechanisms and support measures to overcome the feasibility obstacles CHPs face, and the wide-ranging health, social and economic benefits decarbonisation would have at a social and community level.

Through a deep understanding of the community housing providers, policy, planning, decarbonisation interventions, and funding and finance – we can provide practical advice to the client and demonstrate a clear pathway for a net zero and sustainable future.
