Urbis has partnered with the Property Council of Australia (PCA) to develop and deliver two practical professional development courses through the Property Council Academy.
Designed and delivered by Urbis industry experts, Planning for Non‑Planners and Valuation for Non‑Valuers, draw directly on real project experience. Both courses are built for professionals who work with planning and valuation every day but are not specialists, helping them build confidence, cut through complexity and make better‑informed decisions.
Planning for Non‑Planners
Planning for Non-Planners is an introduction to Australia’s planning systems, tailored to each state and territory. Facilitated by Urbis Directors Christina McRae and Naomi Daley, Associate Director Brigitte Bradley and Partners Cameron Stanley and Tim Dawkins, participants will gain a clear, working understanding of how planning frameworks operate, how the different levels of government interact, and how planning decisions are shaped and assessed.
“This course allows for a diversity of participants from a range of backgrounds to come together and share their own unique expertise and perspectives. It helps them see how their work fits into the broader planning system, giving context and meaning to their role,” said Naomi.
“These sessions are interactive, using real examples and problem solving exercises to make the learning hands on and practical.”
Valuation for Non Valuers
Valuation for Non Valuers, taught by Urbis Partners Clinton Ostwald and Nicholas Moore and Director Jessica Stedman, cuts through the complexity of property valuation. Designed to build practical understanding, it helps participants see how valuation outcomes are formed and how to work more confidently with valuation advice.
“The aim of this course is to give participants a practical framework for understanding valuation outcomes. By breaking down the process and using real examples, we help people ask better questions and make more informed decisions,” said Clinton.
Both one-day courses are held in various cities across Australia and are delivered face-to-face in an interactive classroom environment. The courses are designed to spark discussion, encourage questions and share real‑world insights. Participants learn directly from Urbis experts and alongside peers from across the property, finance, advisory and government sectors, building both capability and professional connections.
