Figurehead sought Urbis’ expertise to secure approval for an 11-storey office development in Collingwood. The challenge was to create a design that would blend with the industrial warehouse character of the area while adding a modern touch.

Our team successfully negotiated with Council to gain approval for this development, allowing the high-quality design, by Carr Architecture, to come to fruition. The design, which respects the area’s context, features a double skin façade for insulation and thermal efficiency, and commissioned First Nations artwork by Lowell Hunter and Gerard Black, acknowledging the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the Traditional Owners of the land.

The project, now a certified ‘Climate Active Carbon Neutral’ building by the Australian Government, has revitalised the area and set a new standard for sustainable development. Figurehead now boasts a Platinum WELL Certification and 5.5 NABERS Energy Rating building, and the façade design comprises a double skin that acts as insultation against extreme temperatures, wind, and sound.

116 Rokeby Street is the first zero-carbon office development constructed in Collingwood.
