Urbis has appointed distinguished landscape architect and design leader Kate Luckraft as Director in its national design team.

With more than 25 years of experience as a practicing landscape architect, Kate joins Mark Kuhne as Directors based in the Sydney office, spearheading Urbis’ landscape architecture offering. 

“I am thrilled to join the Urbis team and collaborate with its talented strategic thinkers across multiple disciplines,” Kate said. “Urbis presents the opportunity to bring multiple perspectives together, to address and resolve complex urban and environmental challenges. I’m looking forward to delivering impactful and valuable places with the team.” 

Kate has played a strategic design and leadership role on diverse projects including the Sydney CBD and South East Light Rail, Kambri at the Australian National University (ANU), Loftus Lanes at Quay Quarter, and Alumni Green at the University of Sydney Technology (UTS). 

Kate brings significant expertise and experience to Urbis that will enhance our collaborative design profile and bolsters our overall design practice, both locally in the NSW market, and nationally.

She also brings specialist expertise in designing children’s play environments, having led the design and delivery of the Darling Quarter playground and the Ian Potter Wild Play Garden at Centennial Parklands. 

Kate holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), is a Registered Landscape Architect (RAILA), and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. 

Kate played an integral role in establishing the Sydney practice of ASPECT Studios, where she led the growth of the business for more than 22 years. Since 2022, Kate practiced as a consultant, most recently consulting to the New South Wales state government, leading the rezoning of Parramatta North. 

She commenced her role Monday July 7.
