Tailor your application

Customise your resume and cover letter for each role, highlighting skills and achievements that align with the job ad and its criteria.

Prepare your documents

For a smooth process, be prepared to support your application with the right documents. We ask for your resume, academic transcript, referee details & confirmation of working rights during the application phase.

Use AI responsibly

AI can be a helpful starting point for resumes and interview preparation, but it’s important to review and personalise anything it produces so your work remains authentic and genuinely reflects you.

Do your research

Learn about Urbis, our values, and the role you’re applying for. If you progress to an interview, come prepared with thoughtful questions that show genuine interest and curiosity. This also ensures you will get the most out of the interview process.

Know your strengths

Think about your key strengths and experiences and prepare specific examples that demonstrate them. Think about how your experiences align with Urbis’s values and culture.

Be authentic

We want to know more about who you are, your uniqueness and see how you shine. Bring your energy and authenticity to each stage of the process. Keep it natural and have fun, every opportunity is a learning experience!

Creating your resume

Resumes should be kept concise and well-structured. Try keeping your resume to two pages, with a brief summary near the top. List your most impactful achievements, work experiences or relevant skills in a clear format. Tailor your resume to the specific role by highlighting skills, qualifications and achievements that align with the position description. Show your passion for your work and your dedication to achieving your goals. Reference specific projects or outcomes that demonstrate your collaborative mindset and problem-solving ability.  And the good news? We don't require a cover letter! If you progress to the video interview stage, we will invite you to answer specific questions instead. Should you provide a cover letter in your application, we cannot guarantee it will be reviewed.

About psychometric assessments

The psychometric assessment is an online tool designed to help us understand your thinking style and behavioural strengths. It focuses on skills relevant to early career roles and supports a fair and consistent recruitment process. If you progress to this stage, you’ll receive an email with a link and instructions to complete the assessment within 72 hours. We recommend keeping an eye on your inbox so you don’t miss it. You can’t really study for these assessments, but you can set yourself up for success. Find a quiet space, minimise distractions and give yourself enough time to complete it without rushing. Most importantly, answer genuinely. Your results help us understand your strengths and how you may fit within the team. The assessment is just one part of the process and is considered alongside your interview, experience and qualifications to help us build a well-rounded picture of you as a candidate.

Your video interview

As part of our selection process, you will complete a short online assessment in two parts: a video interview and a few situational judgement questions. A video interview gives us an opportunity to learn more about your communication style, motivations and interest in Urbis and the industry. It gives you a fantastic opportunity to bring your resume to life! Choose a quiet, well-lit space with a professional background. Dress as you would for an in-person interview. Remember to test your camera, microphone, and internet connection beforehand. Please answer in your own words and avoid using AI tools in your responses. Our process is designed to help us understand your experiences, thinking and communication style, so we encourage you to be yourself.

Your in-person interview

If you progress to an in-person interview, interviews are held in our offices. You will receive specific location details via our online interview confirmation process. We recommend wearing smart professional attire. Our office culture is relaxed, but dressing professionally for the interview shows respect for the process and helps you feel confident. No need to bring anything, just your authentic self! If you have noted specific questions you would like to ask your interviewers, perhaps bring a notepad and pen. For a small number of roles, candidates may be asked to complete a case study or task prior to the interview. You will be given adequate notice and time to complete this prior to the interview.
