Frequently Asked Questions
General
How do I apply?
There are multiple avenues to apply. You can find the open roles via Prosple, SeekGrad or our website.
When can I apply?
The application window is from Monday 6th July – Friday 24th July. Whilst we understand this window can overlap with semester breaks, we encourage candidates to apply as early as possible.
How do I know if I am eligible?
Eligibility is determined by the following factors:
1. Working Rights – you must have full working rights
2. You must be studying a relevant degree (noted in each role ad)
3. You must be studying during 2027 and ideally graduating in that year. We will however consider applications for penultimate year students.
What does the recruitment process involve?
We try to keep it simple! Our recruitment process screens candidates through three phases:
1. Candidate application
2. Psychometric Assessment & Video Interview
3. Final interview*
*A handful of roles require an additional task to support the application. You will be advised if you progress to the interview stage.
Is the internship paid?
It sure is! You will be paid at an hourly rate and will be paid for the hours you work.
How many days a week will I work?
Typically interns work between 2-4 days per week, dependent upon their study timetable. This can be flexible throughout the year as commitments increase or decrease and dependant upon business needs. Interns work with their leaders to ensure the right balance.
How long is the internship?
Our internships run from February – December each year.
Where are internships based?
This year we are recruiting across the following office locations:
Parramatta | Sydney | Melbourne | Brisbane | Gold Coast | Perth
Not all disciplines are available in every region. Please review our job ads for specific locations and disciplines.
What qualities does Urbis look for in interns?
We welcome individuals who communicate well and are genuinely interested in cities, places and communities. Being curious, open to working with others and willing to learn matters just as much to us as technical skills.
Growth and development
What type of work will I do?
Our interns don’t observe, they contribute. You will have the opportunity to support teams with a mix of research, analysis, and project work. Tasks are meaningful and aligned with learning outcomes, with guidance provided throughout.
Will I receive support and mentoring?
Absolutely! Interns are supported by buddies, peers, team members and leaders. We support your learning through providing guidance and feedback to build your capability and confidence. There will always be someone there to answer your curious questions!
Is there any development outside of ‘on the job’ exposure?
Our internships are designed as a learning experience as much as a work experience. We schedule learning sessions throughout the internship to support your professional and personal growth.
Can an internship lead to a permanent position?
It sure can! Internships are a good way to understand whether Urbis is the right fit for you, and vice versa. We see interns as a talent pipeline into consultant roles. Whilst an internship does not guarantee a role, we’ll be transparent through your time with us.
