Ricardo is a Natural Resource Economist with over 20 years’ experience in creating sustainable value across the private and the public sector in Australia and overseas. Operating at the nexus of strategy, sustainability and innovation, Ricardo works closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure outcomes that provide tangible benefits far and wide. This includes significant experience developing and implementing ESG-related assurance, performance management and decision-making frameworks.
Having held senior management and executive roles in some of Australia’s largest councils, Ricardo has led multiple award-winning initiatives at a State and National level, from the Planning Institute of Australia, the Smart Cities Council ANZ, and the International Association for Public Participation. His public sector experience covers urban resilience and sustainability programs, economic development strategies, public-service business transformation programs, innovation ecosystem development, evidence-based infrastructure advocacy, investment attraction and the establishment of business concierge services.
Working in the private sector overseas, Ricardo has worked on the value-chain creation for the supply of natural ingredients sourced from indigenous and community-based suppliers for Natura & Co, as well as consulting on social and economic aspects on management plans for National Parks and other protected areas.
