Northern Beaches Council’s children’s services are highly valued by the community. However, as a merged council, the delivery of these services reflects different approaches. Population growth in parts of the LGA and a projected increase in the number of young children are additional challenges for Council.

To respond to these challenges, we worked with Council to develop a Children’s Services Strategy. This sets out a roadmap for the Northern Beaches to provide a portfolio  of integrated and multi modal services that provide flexibility for families. The Strategy is supported by a detailed evidence base which identifies current strengths and areas for improvement.

This involved assessing Council’s services against local, national and international benchmarks, undertaking community surveys and focus groups, and leading co-design workshops with Council’s Children’s Services team.

The Strategy will help Northern Beaches Council achieve its vision of providing accessible, equitable, and flexible children’s services. The draft Strategy was placed on public exhibition in early 2020, with adoption expected for late 2020. The draft Children’s Services Strategy can be viewed on the Northern Beaches Council’s website.
