Urbis was commissioned to evaluate the Quality Use of Medicine (QUM) component of the Residential Medication Management Review (RMMR) Program. The QUM component provides funding for pharmacists to support staff of residential aged care facilities through advice, audit, training and review of medication management regimens.

The evaluation methodology included a literature review of international best practice in QUM within residential aged care facilities, program data analysis, consultation with national stakeholders, surveys and interviews with pharmacists and staff of residential aged care facilities. The findings of the evaluation informed the future direction of QUM support within residential aged care facilities.

We brought together the views of pharmacists, aged care providers and peak bodies, as well as local data and international evidence to deliver a holistic evaluation of the QUM program.
