Bulgana Wind Farm Pty Ltd commissioned Urbis to assess the potential landscape and visual impacts for a proposed development, approximately 11.2 kilometres east of Stawell and 11.7 kilometres north of Ararat.

They proposed to develop a wind farm comprised of 67 wind turbines with a hub height of up to 140 metres, a rotor diameter up to 128 metres and a ground to blade tip height of up to 196 metres. The total installed capacity is approximately 201 megawatt. The development also included associated infrastructure including new access tracks and underground cabling. Existing roads and tracks around and through the site required upgrading to enable suitable access to the site.

Using detailed photo-simulations, Urbis was able to provide a succinct report to support the planning and approvals process. The project was approved for development in 2015.

Perceptual responses to wind farms are varied despite studies typically showing a positive response by viewers.
