Urbis has supported Ausbao (286 Sussex St) Pty Ltd to achieve stage 1 and 2 approvals for a mixed-use development at 286 Kent Street Sydney.

Located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, the development will provide a 147-room boutique hotel and restaurant within a podium and 99 luxury apartments in a tower above.

Working closely with Ausbao, Smart Design Studio and Council to secure the approvals, Urbis provided planning advice and prepared the applications for the envelope and detailed design.

The development will offer high quality amenity for the hotel and apartment residents and will be an exceptional place to live, work and experience. It will contribute high quality architectural and urban design outcomes to the metropolitan centre and showcase the design excellence of Smart Design Studio.

As important, the project will improve the ground level public domain interface by activating Sussex Street, Bathurst Street and Druitt Lane with the hotel lobby, restaurant and retail.

Mixed use projects create balance in CBDs and activate streets in the evening and on weekends. The 286 Sussex Street project will contribute to our dynamic mixed-use city and will help drive our global status.
