David Somek has more than a decade of strategic and applied economic, policy and program evaluation experience, working with clients in the public and private sectors at all levels.

He employs economic and financial analysis – drawing on both quantitative and qualitative methodologies – to help clients identify and better understand the key issues, risks and opportunities that influence program and investment decisions.

David specialises in economic analysis and research; economic impact assessment; policy analysis, research and review; regulatory and expenditure review; and cost–benefit analysis. He has degrees in economics and finance.

David’s notable recent experience includes assessing the economic and social benefits of an expansion to Westmead Hospital in Sydney; conducting a strategic economic and policy review of the Victorian planning standards for new government schools; and developing a cost–benefit and sustainability analysis methodology and tool – the first of its kind in Australia.

I have a passion for complex economic and policy problems that call on me to understand and assess the full range of economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts.
