A highly regarded and experienced valuer, David draws on more than 35 years’ experience in the real estate industry, concentrating on property valuation and specialised consultancy across the commercial, industrial, mixed use and residential sectors.

David is an expert in valuations for compensation purposes and land acquisition negotiations for infrastructure projects and is an expert litigation witness. He also specialises in the valuation of leasehold interests for a wide range of large premises including port facilities, hotels, and mixed use developments. A skilled negotiator, he is highly knowledgeable in premises selection, acquisition and transaction management for the divestment of corporate real estate assets. 

He joined Urbis after merging his own business, Blackwell Consulting in 2012, and has previously held a senior estate management position at the Fiji Native Land Trust Board. David was also a director of the Arthur Andersen Real Estate Services group in Sydney.

His project experience is wide-ranging,  with valuation assignments for clients including ALE Property Group, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, Fairfax Foundation, Catholic Cemeteries Board, Redcape Hotels (now Hotel Property Investments), Westpac, ANZ Bank, National Australia Bank and St George Bank.  David also provided valuations for compensation under the NSW Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act for a range of commercial and residential landowners affected by the WestConnex project and the Sydney Metro scheme. He also undertakes valuations and research on behalf of the self-storage industry for clients including Kennards Self Storage, Rent-A-Space Self Storage and the Australasian Self Storage Association.
