Urbis has announced the appointment of two directors to the National Design team’s Perth office.
Urbis National Director of Design James Tuma said that these appointments were a great coup for the company, and that the expansion of the Design team in Perth has been brought about by demand from clients for additional expert consultancy knowledge.
Carl is a successful project manager, having led large teams and managed the creative design process for high profile local and international urban projects including the Fiona Stanley Hospital and the City of Elmina, Malaysia. He has worked on award winning projects including the 2012 National UDIA Residential and Environmental award-winning Port Coogee development.
“Carl has joined Urbis to lead the studio from the front – he has great local and international experience, and will be an asset to the team,” said Mr Tuma.
Michael is a nationally recognised urban designer who specialises in the new communities sector of the market. He has developed a strong reputation for delivering innovative design solutions for the changing Greenfield market and a commercial approach to Perth’s emerging infill and retails sectors. He currently sits on the UDIA WA Built Form Committee where he applies his experience in mixed use/town centre development to advocate on behalf of the industry to deliver robust design outcomes.
“Michael is an astute and energetic young Director, and as head of the Urban Design team will help Urbis shape Perth and its communities well into the future,” said Mr Tuma.
The Perth Design team will focus its ongoing growth in city-building projects through master planning, design and documentation of larger landscape architecture and urban design projects including park master plans, open space strategies, shared trail planning and implementation, landscape and visual impact assessment, new communities, urban regeneration, transport, mining and energy infrastructure, retail, commercial and town centres, urban framework plans and urban context reports.
Urbis is excited to welcome Michael and Carl to the National Design team, with their appointments adding a significant depth of experience to the firm to provide clients with the best insight and service.
