The project, led by Director Marion Fredriksson and the Perth Design team, received the PLA Western Australian regional award in the Leisure and/or Open Space: Planning category, for outstanding examples of strategic planning for open space or leisure facilities that have enriched or revitalised a community.

The South Perth foreshore strategy and management plan involved regional public open space planning for the foreshore area. It documented a stakeholder-informed suite of environmental, social and recreational strategies for a long-term plan to revitalise the foreshore, as well as adjacent commercial and tourist precincts to develop the area into a world-class attraction.

The PLA Awards of Excellence showcase the excellent work of the parks and leisure professionals who deliver enormous benefit to communities and recognise outstanding performance by organisations and individuals contributing to the sector.

The winning project will now progress to the national finals, to be held later in the year.

Congratulations, City of South Perth and the Urbis Design team!
