Maugan Bastone is a town planning professional who has won approval for some of Melbourne’s most impressive developments within Melbourne Central and the wider metropolitan area.

With a degree in town planning and urban studies, and a background in private consultancy, Maugan is skilled in consulting with planning authorities and the community, negotiating development approvals, amending planning schemes, and coordinating project work completed by consultants such as architects, traffic engineers and landscape architects. He is a member of the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association and routinely appears as an expert witness before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Maugan has worked on a broad range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments at Urbis including CBD towers, aged care facilities and townhouses. Of particular note, he has managed high-stakes approvals for Melbourne’s tallest residential tower – the 75-storey Victoria One skyscraper – and 600 Collins Street, a mixed-use high-rise enveloped in lattice, designed by the late ‘starchitect’ Zaha Hadid.

I most value relationships, especially those with clients who – through the ups and downs of the planning system – have become close friends, and with peers I trust, rely on and work closely with.
